Melissa Petro

Melissa Petro graduated from Antioch College in 2002 with a degree in Self, Society and Culture, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Creative Nonfiction at The New School. The first chapter of her memoir (’Mexico’) was awarded second place in Memoirs Ink 2005 Nonfiction Contest and was featured in Cultural Shock, a multimedia exhibition at Local Project Gallery. She recently presented a paper at Sex Work Matters: Beyond Divides, a conference for scholars, activists and analysts involved in issues surrounding sex work. This paper, entitled “I Did It… For the Money: Sex Work as a Means to Socioeconomic Opportunity”, was published in the August edition of Research in Sex Work. The third chapter of her memoir is being published in the forthcoming edition of Post Road.
