Tony D’Souza is the author of the novel Whiteman, winner of the Sue Kaufman prize from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, the Maria Thomas Award from Peace Corps Writers, the Florida Gold medal for Fiction, Best First Fiction from Poets & Writers Magazine, and was a finalist for the LA Times Art Seidenbaum Prize, the New York Public Library Young Lions Award, and PEN’s Robert Bingham Fellowship. Tony’s stories have appeared in the New Yorker, Playboy, McSweeney’s, Tin House, Best American Fantasy, the O. Henry Prize Stories and elsewhere, and his journalism has appeared in Salon, Esquire, Worldview, and Outside Magazine, and has been nominated for a National Magazine Award. Tony’s second novel, The Konkans, chronicles an immigrant family to Chicago from India’s Konkan Coast. He has received an NEA grant and an NEA Japan Friendship Fellowship. Tony has appeared on the Today Show, Dateline, A&E’s Bill Kurtis Investigates, the BBC, NPR, and has spoken at many universities.
